This month, student of the month was awarded to Alby Barker from the infant class and Billy-Jo Shannon from the junior class, both students has showed a tremendous amount of work effort!
On Tuesday 1st September 2015 we decided to start the month off by giving hip throw a try, I do have to break this down considerably to allow the young students to grasp each stage but as the weeks went past they found this throwing technique achievable. To build on their confidence we started using crash mats to break there fall, once they were confidant we removed these to allow them to get use to break falling on the mat.
The junior, teenager and adult students worked on defences from kick, mixed up with fitness and grappling. The technique that we were practising was from the greenbelt syllabus so we continued this theme by practising more from that belt.
After getting the unfortunate news that the Wymondham leisure centre not to be ready for us to move back into the main until next year I decided to move the classes around a little. The infant and junior students would work together within the hour and the teenager and adult students would work together the following hour, this would allow for more serious training – with the adult national gradings only a few months away we must really knuckle down with our training. Next month we will have independent reports on the infant and junior class and another report for the teenager and adult class.
Massive congratulations to Kevin Pell Sensei who was presented with the Grand Master of the year 2015, having been nominated by Sensei Zvonko Tubic Tuba and presented by Ernesto Hoost, four times K1 world champion. Kevin Pell Sensei and Sam gladly Sempai travelled to split (Croatia) to receive this prestigious award and was kindly looked after by all the Croatian team.
As we have the children’s, teenager and adults gradings fast approaching we will be concentrating all our efforts to get ready for this. If you are a teenager and adult student and you require weapons for your grading, please start thinking about getting them now so you will have in plenty of time; the main emphasis is that you will be able to train that particular element.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
