Wymondham (U16’S) Ju Jitsu Club
Monthly Report
November 2015

Congratulations to you all successfully passing!

Congratulations to you all successfully passing!

The month of November all effort was giving to the children’s national gradings. The students at the Wymondham Ju Jitsu club have a combined class of Infant and Junior students due to the temporary relocation to Robert Kett School. Both age categories went over similar techniques but more technical ability was needed for the older student.

All students were expected to perform hip throws, with the very small ones getting it as perfect as they possible could; I sometimes forget how young Oliver Gower is when performing this technique. I remember when he would struggle with a whole hour but now has no problems achieving this.

Lets see that fighting spirit!

The other techniques we have been doing is “A defence from a kick,” the younger infant students catching the leg, reaping their partner. The older students performing the same but finishing off with a lock and axe kick. It has taking a lot of practice to get everyone comfortable with being taken down but has been great fun working on this.

The last technique we went over was “a defence from leg scissors,” all age groups practiced the same technique. After breaking free from the legs they would manoeuvre themselves to gain side control and do a variety of ground hold techniques.

The students were not just tested on these techniques but were also required to show their breakfalling abilities, fitness, which is performed in-between techniques. They were also tested on their Ishin Ryu fighting spirit and when things get a little tuff that they should not give up.

It was a fantastic grading with lots going away quite sweaty. The following week we had games week and presentations. This is an exciting time as they get rewarded for all their hard work leading up to the gradings and then get to finish off with receiving their new belt and certificate and move up another level.

It has been a fantastic month and with some of the students now wanting to further their training after reaching their highest belt in the junior class; move on and try out the teenager class and be tested at a higher level

Next month we look forward to calming down in preparation for Christmas, when all clubs will be closed for two weeks.

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…

Many thanks,
Del Shannon Sensei
