Congratulations to the Students of the Month, June 2015

The infant class started the month off with relay races and trying to add as many different exercises in; starting off with sprints, then sprints with exercises at the end, to bear crawls on all fours and horse back. This was a fun time for the children as each tried hard to keep their partner on their back, whilst being on all fours to then carry them to the other end of the mat and back again.

The junior class started off the same way but then partnered up around the mat to continue their work with palm heel strikes. Alex Nesbitt and Toms Brass have started working together to demonstrate some really good techniques. Alex and Toms have now got their uniforms and are fitting in really well with the rest of the class.

Get ready!

The last two lessons of the month we worked on getting both classes lined up in a straight line down the centre of the mat to perform either fitness activities or practice their techniques. We started off first with burpees and as we now had a modification of this it made it a lot harder, five was the target then five of press-ups, sit-ups and leg raises; all achieved this with ease so we repeated the process with repetitions of six and then seven. By the end of this they were a little sweaty especially under the humid conditions.

We then worked on their techniques for gradings, continuing in a straight line one side would go first and repeat the technique as many times as possible before swapping over with their partner to repeat. Once I was happy with their progression, the infant class performed games coupled with their techniques to get lots of repetition. The junior class continued with their palm heel strikes, working by numbers sometimes called out in random orders to see how they would cope with the exercise.

Both class were also giving fitness in-between practicing to keep their work rate high.

The last lesson of the month we also had three new students at Wymondham Ju Jitsu club come along and have a little trial, they all liked their lesson so will hopefully tell you all about it next month.

Next month we have class gradings and everyone will be tested on their abilities, if successful they will then get presented with their new belts and certificates the following week. The class will also be awarded with a games lesson, a fun time for all especially after all their hard work.

We have summer holidays only around the corner, which I’m sure lots of you are looking forward too… (well, maybe not the parents) Ju Jitsu will still be on over the summer holidays so if you are not going away it would be great to see you all.
