Wymondham Tuesday Ju Jitsu Club
Monthly Report, December 2014

Congratulations to Megan Hanton and Lydia Ocal, receiving student of the month for December 2014. Well done girls, you’ve worked really hard to receive this award, keep up the good work!

Students of the month…!

Students of the month…!

During the month of December students at the Wymondham Ju Jitsu club have being working on a mixture of fitness, standing and kneeling grappling.

We started off with trying to work on the young students press-ups. We tried many different static holds to try work on their core strength to enable their young bodies to hold them in position. We ran from end to end and would hold in the static press-up upon reaching each end, and then repeat the same activity for a few more rounds. The Infant and Junior classes were given homework to try and compete as many press-ups as possible in one round and then to record their result. Each day this activity was to be carried out and then brought in the following week to see their progression.

We worked on their fitness by doing relay races working on all parts of the body. The main exercise they found quite tiring was to be on your hands and toes and walk backwards from end to end as this really works the shoulder muscles, especially when we have been doing lots of press-ups.
Standing and kneeling grappling was also added to this, really working the fitness aspect. Each month they get a little stronger and confident with what they are doing.

On the last lesson of the year we had made the lesson into a fun lesson and interacting different games. This time we had team games with balloons and got them doing fitness. Horse Jutsu was a great favourite of the evening and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

On Saturday the 6th December 2014 Sonny Clarke attempted his Teenager 7th Kyu (Yellow belt) grading at Honbu (Headquarters) Sonny had to turn up dressed smartly in his school uniform to be inspected as part of his grading. After an immaculate turnout, they then changed and got ready to perform their bare footed run. Sonny performed excellent on his grading and definitely felt he worked hard. With him having to perform numerous fitness tests, coupled with his grading syllabus, he was a little tired by the end. I would like to congratulate Sonny on a job well done…!

Also during the month Joshua Ciannarella attempted his Adult 7th Kyu (Yellow belt) grading at Honbu (Headquarters) on Saturday the 13th December 2014. Joshua would have to perform the same things as Sonny but at a higher level. Dressed in the Ishin Ryu Federation Dress, standard turnout for all those that have been inducted into Ishin Ryu. Joshua performed really well and showed how regular training could pay off.

Next month we look forward to our Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu 25th Anniversary, which will take place on Saturday 10th January 2015. With one hundred and eighty places already gone, this event will be a fantastic start to 2015.
I look forward to seeing everyone back at training on Tuesday 06th January 2015 when we can loose our turkey bellies…
This year has come to a close and would like to wish everyone from the Wymondham Ju Jitsu Club a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year…

Congratulations to Sonny Clarke and Joshua Ciannarella on passing their gradings!
