The month started off with the senior grades and a few Kyu grades attending the St David’s Day dinner in Llanelli, South Wales. This annual event was just as spectacular as the last with the road trip being as long as ever (due to regular toilet stops) but quite entertaining – Thank you to Paul Lincoln for being a fantastic driver and putting up with us.
I would also like to say well-done to Jake Rider who nominated himself to have his over grown head of hair cropped to raise money for the charity. By getting Jake’s hair cut away we managed to raise an extra £200. Thank you to Darren Cooper for his Groomer – even if it did take forever. A great weekend and look forward to the next.
On Sunday 20th March 2016, adult students form the Aldenham dojo attended ATW (Advance training wing) along side the senior grades from Honbu to go through their bi-monthly training. It was a great day as always with lots of sweat and hard work from everyone. In tradition we finished off the day with a group meal (Train together, eat together) just before the meal we had just enough time to relax with a nice swim and Sauna, which really finishes the day off…
I would like to give a warm welcome to Eden Ciannarella who has joined us at Wymondham, after seeing bigger brother in action, Eden is keen to get stuck in and see what he can try on Josh. I’m quite positive that you will enjoy your training with us and meet some new friends along the way.
As training goes the adult students have been working their way through their respectful belts, Keith Gallick has been making regular visits at our club, working along side Josh Ciannarella to enhance their techniques for green belt.
The teenagers have been working on their first belt, working out which technique corresponds to which name, this is always difficult when starting but over time this will become easy. Well-done to you all, you have been progressing well with fitness, little by little it will become easier. Well-done to Joe Holden who has got so much better at burpees. Keep practicing that belt each day so it can become second nature.
Hopefully next month after having talks with Robert Kett School we will be staying in location as I am not very happy with the new arrangements, that the newly refurbished Leisure Centre have to offer when they open on the 11th April. At the school we will be able to start earlier with the added benefit of the adults having two hours training rather than the single. This will mean extra time available to practice those skills and raise your fitness levels!
We have the Children’s Championships fast approaching on Sunday 22nd May 2016 but this event is not just for the children and is open to anyone from the age of 4 years and up. The adults will be doing a knockdown style, so start thinking about it if you fancy your chances of winning.
Next month we have The British Martial Arts award on Saturday 16th April when a big gathering of us will be attending to see if we receive an award. Catch up with us next month to see what happened.
If you want to know any further information, please do not hesitate to look at Soke’s Facebook page or contact Soke at home. Soke has paid for the tickets and hotel so can everyone in attendance, if you have not done so already – please square this away.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
