Osu, welcome back everyone. It’s been a busy month already with February seeing a couple of events; one being A.T.W (Advance training wing – senior grades only I’m afraid). This was re-scheduled from last month and saw senior grades travel to headquarters to get rid of any lingering cobwebs trying to creep in. Soke made sure that he kept us on our toes and gave us a good old traditional training session which left us with a good sweat on. “Osu,” – thank you Soke!
The other event that we had this month been the first aid course, which saw twenty-four students attend this fantastic one-day event at Honbu.
We brushed up on those all important skills so we can bring first class care to our students should any problems arise. It is also a requirement for any student wanting to attempt their brown belt that they must have a valid first aid qualification. It was a great day and I am positive that everyone went away with some valuable skills.
As for training Joshua Ciannarella, and Keith Gallick have ben working hard each week to iron out any issues with their techniques. Over the next few months they will be revising all belts ready for their summer grading, making sure that no stone is unturned. They are both determined to pass their green belt and climb up those belts. It’s all about the journey and they have both had some ups and downs, which have made them stronger and more determined to get there – well-done guys!
The young teenagers who moved up from the junior class have been working hard together to learn the basics needed for their white belt in the summer. Although they have still got lots to do, they will definitely be ready.
The white belts that passed theit grading in December last year are again steadily working their way through but constantly revising their previous belt so they don’t get caught out. Sonny Clarke is determined to attempt his grading in the summer and is working well with Andrew Holmes.
Andrew has had a little bit of a growth spurt and makes it easier when working with Sonny.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
Look forward to seeing you all in March.
