A the beginning of June all effort were focussed on the teenagers and adults attempting their gradings this month. Sonny Clarke who was working towards his Orange belt was unable to perform the grading due to being away with family. Andrew Holmes was also unfortunately unable to take part due to having duties elsewhere. Hopefully next time the boys will be able to attempt.
As we have had to move to Robert Kett School for a short period of time due to the refurbishment at Wymondham Leisure centre, we have had to combine a few classes into same time slots as others, unfortunately this has left the classes in a bit of a pickle so I have asked Sempai Richard King to come along to class and help the teenagers and adults further their training whilst I teach the juniors which are also taking place but on a separate mat.
Sempai Richard has kindly agreed of which I’m very grateful for!
This will be a short-term slot as refurbishment should be partially finished and allowing the club back to the centre to use the main hall.
Joshua Ciannarella and Linnet Gallick have also been preparing themselves for their gradings, which took place on Saturday 20th June 2015. On the day most adults arrived a little after 10am to prepare themselves for the kit inspection that was due at 11 am. With a few pointers given by Sensei Andrew Herbert about little things needed to be addressed, kit inspection was complete and then on to for photos before everyone got changed for the Ishin Ryu bare footed run.
With the run done and most students feet still looking good it was time for the white belts to prepare themselves for gradings. Linnet, although a bit anxious, was keen to grade. It took a short while for them to get going but by the end of the grading they were firing on all cylinders! It was a great grading and with the big announcement that they all passed, there was big weight lifted off their shoulders. Well done to you all!
With the yellow belts performing a great grading it was time for Joshua Ciannarella to attempt his orange. Joshua started off with no problems but you could really see how the new burpees were affecting everyone. Joshua pushed and pushed and with me shouting in his ear to never give up, he successfully passed his grading. Well done Joshua! Moving onto green, a half waypoint and definitely a belt that will test your physical skills. Everyone performed great and a successful day for the Wymondham Ju Jitsu club!
Remember we have the Weyland show in Norfolk on Sunday the 2nd of August when all adults attend, performing demonstrations for the public and giving them a little taste of what Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu is all about… Please make sure you have this down in you diaries, if not please contact Soke at headquarters or alternatively see myself at the club.
