On Sunday 6th July 2014 Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu participated in the Watford Observer Family Fun Day in Bushey.
We arrived early in location to set up our gazebo, table and colourful mats. We had just purchased some new Ishin Ryu balloons which were bright and colourful, ready to hand out to any willing children wishing to participate in our Ju Jitsu taster sessions.
As we looked around the event there was other activities available on site from bouncy castles, ice cream, different dance demonstrations and football matches. During the day we had children wishing to try out free taster sessions. First of all there were a couple of boys that came on to the mat. Sempai Tom started off with showing them of couple of self-defence techniques and them having a little practice. Sempai Tom then demonstrated some breakfalls from different directions. Forward rolls were a good taker and the boys loved practicing these.
Whilst children were having a rest, Billie-Jo Shannon and Katie-Lee Shannon demonstrated to the children and adults where they could see the children’s training progressing as they get further along in their Martial Arts career. Whilst Billie-Jo was on the mat she practiced the adult White belt syllabus techniques and performed really well; I think when its time for Billie-Jo to move to the Teenager class she will cope very well!
The rest of the day we saw different families come on to the mat to participate. We had a mixture of boys and girls, which had learnt different hold-downs and showed where it could be used. We also had a few different games that are practiced at beginning and end of lessons…
It was a gorgeous day that brought a lot of people out from their houses to have fun… I would like to thank all those that participated on the day; your help is greatly appreciated!!
