As you can see by the photos, the club has taken delivery of the new tatami mats. I have brought more mats so the area is also bigger for them to train on. It looks so much more professional with the new Shoman at the front as well. Plus they can do a lot more as they are much thicker than the previous mats. Fifteen years since the club started, I am proud that I am able to give the best to all my students so that they can train and develop their skills on the best mats that money can buy.
Firstly this month I would like to thank all the members of my demonstration team for all their hard work and commitment to training. They have had a busy year doing displays all around the UK. Here is a list of all the great events they have been to:
Doncaster Martial Arts Show, Brandon Carnival, 4th July Celebrations, High Lodge Open Day, Thetford Fun day, Finborough Summer Fete.
I would also like to thank their parents who have travelled with us and shown tremendous support to their children and the organisation. Without such support the demo team would not have been able to experience so many great events.
The infants have been working hard on their techniques for the gradings in July and the demonstration that we have been invited to do at the 4th July Celebrations for the second year. Well done to Kaysie Hendricks for all her great work last month. Kaysie is nearly at the top of her infants belts and will be moving up to the junior class alongside he r sister Jessica.
The infants had a go at defence against wrist grabs, which they really loved as they were able to shout really load. It is amazing how loud a child can be when they are allowed to. It is a great way of building a student’s confidence and to really see what they can do vocally and technically.
Congratulations to Shaun Addison who was awarded Student of the month. Shaun has become a good martial artist and his confidence has got so much better. He really loves getting stuck in and gives the other student’s a good fight when it comes to take down.
Congratulations to Jordan, awarded Student of The Month for all his hard work and determination in the lessons. Jordan has been training with me for the last six years. He has never missed a lesson unless he has gone on holiday. One thing I love about Jordan is that he is very respectful & helpful during the lessons. When I need someone to help in the lessons, Jordan will be the first one to offer. I really do look forward to seeing Jordan develop his skills and become a major part of the thetford club in the future.
It is always a pleasure to teach the Saturday classes; they are so up for whatever I want them to do. There is a great mixture of students that all get on so well together. Well done to Jessica & Maddison who both work really hard in the lessons. Their confidence and ability in their throws and self-defence techniques is really great to watch. The class has had the opportunity to have a go at a very effective finger lock and take up technique. It was great to see how quick they wanted to get off the floor, whilst being controlled just by one finger.
Well done to all the teenagers for yet another great month. Good luck to all the ones that will be taking their next grading in July. This will be the last grading my daughter will take before she hopefully moves into the adult class. Where has the time gone, I can remember when she first started at the age of six. I am so proud of everything she has achieved in Ju Jitsu and I know that she will be able to protect herself. As a parent that is one of the major reason why I wanted my children to train in in martial arts.
Congratulations to Shay, who was awarded a progress medal for his throws. This is always ab great moment for the students and their parents to see their son/daughter awarded for all their hard work.
Just one final thing to let everyone know, this year’s SUMMER CAMP is from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August. There is a limited amount of spaces in both the infant and junior camp. The cut-off date is Saturday 7th July, due to medals and trophies that have to be ordered for the camp.
This is a great chance for your child to have lots of fun and Ju Jitsu Training for 5 hours a day over a week period. Letters and a booking form will be going out in the first week of June.
A brilliant months training by so many awesome students, keep up the great work.
