Congratulations to Jonah Lopez for all his hard work during the last four weeks, it was great to see his reaction when called his name out. Jonah started at the RAF Feltwell dojo alongside Travis Stevens and moved a couple of months ago to the Thetford dojo. Even though they didn’t know anyone they have settled in and become great members of the club.
Congratulations to Ben Garrod for achieving student of the month. Ben is a very dedicated student, who trains twice a week and helps me teach the infants before he does the junior class. Ben is a very talented student and has been in my demonstration team for a few years now. To have a student who would rather be at the dojo helping out then back home on his Xbox 360 is something to be very proud of as a parent.
The infants did really well with their grading techniques, which included rear grabs, & wrist grabs. To put them under some pressure in the grading they had to attack and defend in different situations at speed.
Congratulations to all the infants who passed their grading’s. It is always great to see the big smiles on their faces when their names are called out. The parents have so much pride for their child and always give a big cheer when their name was called out.
Every year is always special at any of my dojos, but especially at the Thetford dojo as it was the first club that I started back in March 2000. To still be teaching and grading children 15 years later is such a wonderful feeling to have. The juniors all worked so hard and gave it 100%, I feel so privileged to still be teaching children from the local area and far afield.
Congratulations to all the juniors that were awarded their next belt or new belt, especially to Jack, Corey & Ethen who reached the highest level in the juniors. I look forward to seeing them all in the next lesson along with the other teenagers and adults that I teach.
Finally for this month congratulations to Alexander Bell who was awarded for all his commitment to training from 2008 to 2014. Alex has always been a fantastic student, throughout the six years since he started. He has become a very talented and respectful student, always working hard. As his instructor I am very proud of everything he has achieved, from learning how to defend himself to becoming a decent young person.
The teenager/adult class have had a steady few months working on their syllabus. Now and again we will do a cardio night or back to basics. This will involve basic punches, kicks and a lot of groundwork.
It is only a small class, but they all work really well with each other. Ben Thomson has now reached the age of sixteen so he will attempt to ratify his grades again as an adult. His partner Jack will be sixteen in a few months, so he will join him as an adult. My longest serving student Terry Whiffin is also hoping to undertake his adult belt this year.
Congratulations to all the students who passed their grading and for a great month’s training by everyone at the dojo.
