Congratulations to Daisie Broomfield (Infants) and Loghan Porter (Juniors) on receiving student of the month for November 2015. They are both loving Ju Jitsu and getting a lot from it.
During the month of November the students from the Bishops Dojo undertook their gradings and were tested on techniques that they have been practicing over the previous months to also include breakfalling ability, general fitness, etiquette and fighting spirit. The infant class went over a more simplified version of each of the techniques compared to the junior class. Depending on their belt would determine how much fitness and participation was required from the student.
Our new starters performed really well, getting a good sweat on, most are still waiting for their new uniforms so were tested in their casual clothes. Amy Gilbert was attempting to grade for her Black/White, which is our highest belt for an infant grade, requiring her to do more fitness, more fights, have a better understanding and knowledge of Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu. All the Infant class worked really hard and enjoyed good rest that evening.
The junior grades were tested on similar techniques but more was required of them in general due to their age and ability. There were different levels of ability with a few finishing off their last belts before preparing themselves for the teenager class; again another fantastic effort from all the junior grades.
Young Linnden Turner from the Teenager class has been put through his paces ready for his grading in December. With Linnden having one to one training with myself he has been able to excel forward with his training and has got his techniques down to a T. Linnden will always have a few issues with his fitness due to his heart condition but with care and attention we have managed to get Linnden on a good level.
The week after the gradings we also had the excitement of games followed shortly by belt and certificate presentations. For the students this is one of the best times as they get games as rewards for all their hard work leading up to the grading and then get to receive their new belts and move up a level.
Next month we look forward to calming down in preparation for Christmas, when all clubs will be closed for two weeks.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
