Fantastic, all adult students in dogis

Fantastic, all adult students in dogis

Now in our third month of starting the Bishops Adult Ju Jitsu class, our new students love their training; with all students starting to get to grips with breakfalls, fitness, forward rolls, and the general understanding of what to do in the club. Now everyone has their uniform and eager to learn new techniques. We have the Shochu Geiko next month and I’m very pleased to have all the adult students from the Bishops attend.

Near the end of the month we had the pleasure of a potential new student Stephanie visit us and experience what Ju Jitsu is all about. Stephanie really enjoyed her first lesson and was eager to come back; next month I will inform you how Stephanie has gone.

As each week passes the students get quicker and better. September we did revision from the previous month to enable all to retain information. Palm heel strikes, hip throws, defences against grab to the chest and general fitness. To continue this theme we started working on our ground hold techniques and strangles.

At the end of some of the lessons we finished off with bag work, rounds of milling and tied up with a little fitness to get the blood pumping!

When Gavin Margrie re-joined at the club he was still smoking, Gavin has taken it a stage further by completely given up! Gavin feels so much better for it after making this lifestyle change. Paul Godfrey and Devlinn Turner are also trying to give up the habit by means of patches and other concoctions to help them. I know how hard it is as I’m a ex-smoker and now nearly 10 years down the line feel so much better for it; good luck to all of you I hope you manage to do it.

Massive congratulations to Kevin Pell Sensei who was presented with the Grand Master of the year 2015, having been nominated by Sensei Zvonko Tubic Tuba and presented by Ernesto Hoost, four times K1 world champion. Kevin Pell Sensei and Sam gladly Sempai travelled to split (Croatia) to receive this prestigious award and was kindly looked after by all the Croatian team.

As we have the adult’s gradings fast approaching we will be concentrating all our efforts to get ready for this. If you require weapons for your grading, please start thinking about getting them now so you will have in plenty of time; the main emphasis is that you will be able to train that particular element.

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…

If you have any friends that would like to come a long and give Ju Jitsu a try-out, remember we offer

TWO FREE LESSONS !!

The anniversary dinner is fast approaching and will be on Saturday, 9th January 2016. This is one of the highlights of the year when all students get together and celebrate 26 years of Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu, so please start thinking about your tickets now and who you will be bringing along to celebrate this special time, whether it be your partner, friends or family. Tickets will be available soon; don’t leave it to the last minute, last year we had to turn some away…
