This term student of the month goes to Joseph Thompson, as he has been working really hard and also helping all the other students in the class. Joseph has shown a keen interest in helping the class and showing the lower grades in the class some of the moves in great detail. I have to say that he is a big help in the class and I am very proud of the way he is in class. Keep up the good work and keep training hard.

Welcome back! It is really good to be back at St. Columba’s and amazing to see all kids again after the summer holidays. With this class being a nice small class the kids get a one to one with me so they are polishing their techniques.

To ease the kids back into their Ju Jitsu we have been working on our basic front rolls and also front and back breakfalls. The kids have been working really hard on them as with everything the rolls are one of the hardest things to learn as this is building confidence within the student. I have to say that they are some amazing rolls and the kids are not scared of anything.

Also this month we have been doing a lot of fitness and different exercise within our grappling with each other and building up from 10 of everything to 20 press ups and sit ups. I am very lucky with this class as they always put 100% into their training.

By the end of this half term, the kids have been working on some new rear strangles from kneeing and also standing up.

I am very happy with the way the kids are progressing in the class they are going from strength to strength. Keep it up guys I am very proud of you all.
