Lovely lock from Josh Alley

Lovely lock from Josh Alley

I would like to start this half term off by saying a big well done to Joshua Thomson. He has been a key member in the class being one of the highest grades in the class. All the lower grades look up to him. Every lesson he is on time and has never missed a session. Well done Joshua keep up the good work.

This half term as been a shout one with two bank holidays the class have missed some lessons but that never stops us with are training. This half term we have been doing a lot of ground work and locks from the floor trying to tie are partners up in knots. Even the high grades have been doing all the locks on me and they are getting super strong and most of the class are getting taller than me.

Some of the locks are from a straight arm, bent arm and even a leg lock or two lol  with the ground work being one part we have also been doing some arm locks and leg locks from strangles and round house kicks.

Keeping on the same theme just in a different way with loads of holds and strangles how many ways you can lock someone up there is only so many as everyone’s arms and legs all lock and move the same way, and the kids are starting to understand that.

Even with us working really hard with loads of locks and throws the class have been putting them in to games and fitness with the kids having so much fun playing stuck in the mud and loads of others. One big thing we have been learning is working as a team, so we have been doing team games and team exercise as a big part of the warm up and cool down.

I have to say that the class have come together as a good group, and there is nothing better than a group of children working together. I am so pleased with how this class has been working. Keep it up everyone!

I would like to remind all the children and parents that all the kids have a progress card that they hand in every lesson if they do something good in the lesson or have been working hard they will get a star in the book, once they have completed a line in their card they will get an Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu medal to keep. If you have lost the card or forget to bring it to lesson please let me know and I will get you a new card or sort out more stars next lesson.

I would also like to add that next half term we are going to be starting are work for grading’s and letters will be going out very soon. I am looking forward to the grading’s and seeing how well the class have moved on.

Have a lovely half term and I will see everyone next half term.

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.

Many thanks,
Tom Garvin Sensei
