I would like to start this half term off by saying a big well done to Hugo Parmentier for becoming the infant student of the half term. Hugo has been working really hard in every lesson hasn’t missed a lesson since he started, he is a key member of the class everyone wants to train with him, and he is always willing to help others as well.
I would also like to say a big well done to Paul Benson in the junior class in becoming the junior student of the half term. Paul has been working very hard and has come a long way from when he first started. Showing 100% in every lesson and working hard well done Paul keep up the hard work.
I would like to welcome everyone back to the dojo after the summer holidays. It is amazing to see so many happy smiling students back on the mat, and also good to see so many new faces as well.
This half term has been an amazing start to the school year, with the infant class working on their basic hold downs in grappling. Also working on some basic front strangles from someone pulling them around, the kids have been working so hard on this it has been amazing to watch the kids training. Also this term the kids have learned how to do left and right side breakfalls. And we have been putting this into a game where I say left or right and they have to that breakfall.
By the end of the lessons the kids come out all hot and tired – mums and dads you are very welcome! With the infants being new I have also been teaching them all about Ishin Ryu with a bit of history of the club and also about myself. So they know who I am and what I have been doing within Ishin Ryu and the school. The kids love asking so many questions and I would still be sitting in the dojo with them know answering their questions.
The junior class has been amazing with all of them coming back for more it is amazing to see so many faces back before they leave for secondary school. Most of the juniors I have been teaching since they were in pre-prep so for a long time.
The kids have been learning some throws this half term and from their grappling on the ground. We have had loads of fun doing this with the kids getting used to being thrown to the floor and this is boosting up their confidence so much. Not just with being thrown but also throwing someone as well.
The throw they have been learning is called a body drop and this is a lovely throw to do on someone that is trying to hurt you.
This half term has been really good for the kids and I am so happy with the way they have progressed and moving forward with their Ju Jitsu. I am also looking forward to the next grading’s to show all the parents how well their kids are doing.
With the new school year, the kids will be learning more ground work in the infant class and the juniors will be learning some more throws and takedowns.
Also after half term, we will be getting ready for the final grading’s of the year and also get our self’s set for Christmas and the new year.
