I would like to start this report off by saying a big well done to Pablo Branley for becoming the Infant Student of the Half Term. Pablo has been working really hard in every lesson hasn’t missed a session since he started. He is a key member in the class, everyone wants to train with him, and he is always willing to help others.
I would also like to say a big well done to Joseph Walberg in the Junior class in becoming the Junior Student of the Half Term. Joseph has been working very hard and has come a long way from when he first started. He always shows 100% in every lesson and works very hard – well done Joseph keep up the hard work.
This half term we have been working on are grappling and take downs, from standing and also from kneeling. The take downs the kids have loved as they have been easy trips and sweeps, something quick to take your partner down and all of the students have been enjoying it.
The Infant class have been working on hold downs and keeping each other down and moving around with their partner, and if they get out of a hold how to get them back on top or get them from under each other back on top. I have to say they have been working so hard on this and it has been working really well.
Once down on the ground we have been learning how to move on the floor when someone is on top of you or at the side of you, breaking every bit down so that they understand why they should do it and not just because Sensei said. Some nice locks, the kids have been putting on from the mount figure four arm locks and straight arm locks. And with the Junior class we have also covered chokes as well as the arm locks.
The Infant class have also been learning how to move around on the floor we have been putting this in to games so it makes it more fun for them. This is a brilliant way to learn and also they are doing loads of exercise without them even knowing what they are doing.
We have been doing loads of grappling and throws this term and close to the end of this term e have been working on blocks and pram heel strikes as this will be a big part of their grading’s that will be starting next half term.
Next half term we will be handing out letters for the gradings – please make sure everything is handed in before the deadline.
Also all the Junior students have progress cards to track what they have been doing and what they have been improving on. If they have misplaced their card or you forget to bring it to lesson, please let me know so I can give them the right stars and also replace it. If they complete a line in their card they will get an Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu medal for completing a line.
