This month has, as usual, seen much activity at the home club and headquarters of Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu in Caston.
We were pleased to host a two day groundwork/grappling seminar with the incredibly talented and multi title winning (Including two world titles) instructor Joao Santos from Portugal.
Joao has not taught at Caston for over seven years and it was a great opportunity not only to learn new skills –refresh some old ones- but also for our large, and international, Ju Jitsu family to have a get together.
The Weekend was a great success, with students travelling from as far as Wales, just for the opportunity to train with Sensei (Teacher) Joao Santos.
Last month saw the unveiling of the new “Commitment and Loyalty” trophies. After many lengthy discussions and meetings over the design the final effort was finally ready to award to the worthy candidates.
In a nutshell it is a well-known fact that Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu is not for the faint of heart, this is something we are fiercely proud of and as such we cherish those students who choose to stay- despite the punishing training!- and so it was with much delight that these trophies were, at last, available at Honbu Dojo in Caston to award to those students who had been with us for 6 years or more. What was even more pleasing, than the group of adults who were worthy to receive this award, was the number of youngsters who were eligible to also receive this award.
The teenagers eligible for this award were:- Harry Innes, Grace Munday, Morgan Macarthur, Katy King, Kyran Cooper, George Ward, Hayden South, Callum Hendry – all of whom have been training at Ishin Ryu for over 6 years.
Adult students were:- Trevor Steward (18 years), Sheila Eglen (12 years), Andrew Herbert (12 years), Del Shannon (6 +years), Richard King (6+ years), Ben Beeston (6+ years), Grant Robinson (6+ years), Sebastian Weatherill (6+ years)
Congratulations and well done for your commitment and loyalty to training. We are all very proud of you.
In this day and age, committing to anything for such a of time is a testament not only to you as students, but also to the organisation, so although he didn’t receive a commitment award, a big Well Done also to Soke Kevin Pell for his dedication and ongoing enthusiasm for the club.
