Yet again August has been a busy month for all my students. The summer camp was one of the best ever since I started them many years ago. I have already got parents enrolling their children already fro 2016.
Next year’s summer camp will be from MONDAY 8TH AUGUST TO FRIDAY 12TH AUGUST
As you can see by the photo they did some amazing things during the week long course. Many of the students have been away on their summer holidays, so the numbers in each class have been low.
Firstly this month I would like to welcome three new students to the club, who are Johnny Ball, Sofia Lubben, and Jamilah Lubben. The classes are starting to enrol new students now that the children are about to go back to school and new families have arrived.
The infants have been working hard on their new techniques, which include a couple of rear strangles. The first one they really enjoyed doing, as they could quickly get behind their partner and do the same to them. The second techniques, which I haven’t taught infants before was a straight arm lock from a rear attack. I was really surprised how well they got the hang of doing it.
During the lesson I always quickly change into doing something completely different to keep them on the edge, and so they don’t start getting restless. I find the more you keep them on the ball the better you can achieve from them. They got the chance to have a go at a body drop throw, which they really tried their best to do. As this is quite a difficult throw to do I know it will take much longer for them to achieve. But I know that they will achieve it in the end. Well hopefully before their last grading in November!!!
With so many of the students away for the whole of the summer it has been a very quiet month for the juniors. But the good thing about a small class is that I am able to do a lot more with them, and they get the chance to see what my daughter Jessica is able to do. I do enjoy the summer holidays as it means I can take my children with me around the clubs, and let them demonstrate and do I little bit of teaching for me.
The juniors have been working on counter techniques that I did for my black belt in November 2000. Wow I can’t believe it has been nearly 16 years since I was the first ever student to attempt the Ishin Ryu black belt grading.
It was really great showing the students what I had to do and giving them the opportunity to learn them. I was really impressed with how much they really enjoyed doing them. It will be good to see the classes get back to normal, and start seeing new recruits join the club.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a few things that might help all my students with their training.
REMEMBER IF YOU TRAIN HARD AND ALWAYS TURN UP FOR YOUR LESSONS YOU WILL DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE.
STAYING AT HOME PLAYING ON YOUR XBOX WILL NOT MAKE YOU A BETTER MARTIAL ARTIST OR WHATEVER SPORT YOU TAKE PART IN.
SUCCESS ONLY COMES TO ONES THAT PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING AND EVERY LESSON THAT THEY TAKE PART IN.
ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF; NEVER SAY I CAN’T DO THAT?
EVERYONE CAN ACHIEVE IN WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO OR BECOME.
THE ONLY THING THAT STOPS YOU FROM ACHIEVING IS YOURSELF.
THE SMALLEST ACHIEVEMENT IS A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT.
THE MORE YOU TRAIN THE MORE YOU WILL SUCCEED.
PLAYING ON THE XBOX STAYING AT HOME WILL NOT HELP YOU DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS IN WHATEVER ACTIVITY YOU DO.
TEN YEARS AGO I BROKE MY NECK IN A CAR CRASH AND WAS TOLD I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO DO MARTIAL ARTS AGAIN.
DID I GIVE IN; YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN MAKE YOURSELF A SUCCESS.
One final reminder to all my students, please can you visit our website as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead.
You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me a friend request so if I need to pass on some information quickly I can contact you , and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
