Infant’s students at the British Championship

Infant’s students at the British Championship

What an amazing time it was for all my students at this year’s British Championship. Congratulations to Noah Duggan who became British champion, competing in his first ever championship. Well done to Shane Thomas who won bronze. It was great to see many of the students from the club competing at this year’s event. There were so many proud parents and very happy students on the day.

It won’t be long before the student are grading for their next belts. I can’t believe that we are going to be doing their second grading of this year soon. All the students will be working hard on their first ever demonstration at the “INDEPENDANCE DAY”, which is held at RAF lakenheath along with my students from the club on the base.

Congratulations to Arik for all his tremendous work and helping other students in the lessons. He has gained so much confidence and ability to develop his skills in Ju Jitsu.

Jack Thompson really deserved the title and award of student of the month. Jack has changed so much since he first started and is so much calmer now. He really tries his hardest to get thing right and is very proud of himself when he does.

Well done to all my students at this year’s Championship

The juniors had a great time at the championships. Tylee Butler just missed out on a medal, and Josephine did much better than last year. She had so much more confidence and aggression. Well done to all the juniors for their tremendous hard work and commitment to their training. They are all a great bunch of students to teach. Especially Hannah and Kaylee, who have been at the club since it first started four years ago.

Only four weeks to go before the juniors take part in their first ever demonstration at RAF lakenheath. They have also got to get themselves ready for their gradins next month. Time is going so quick before we know it will be Christmas –  scary thought!

The worst part of being a teacher is that sometimes you have to say goodbye to students. Shane and Josephine Thomas are sadly moving back home to USA, as their mum’s time at the base has come to an end. They have both been amazing students in every way, and I know that if they would have gone right to the top of their belts and so much more. It has been a real privilege to teach two wonderful children that I will really miss on a Monday & Thursday. It will feel really strange not having them help me set up on a Thursday and the laughs that we used to have. I can only be grateful that I have had the chance to know and teach two very dedicated and special children in my life.

Congratulations to the following students who achieved medalist positions at the championships.

NOAH DUGGAN – BRITISH CHAMPION UNDER 24KG

SHANE THOMAS – BRONZE MEDALIST UNDER 21KG

Just one final thing to let everyone know, this year’s SUMMER CAMP is from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August. There is a limited amount of spaces in both the infant and junior camp. The cut-off date is Saturday 7th July, due to medals and trophies that have to be ordered for the camp.

This is a great chance for your child to have lots of fun and Ju Jitsu Training for 5 hours a day over a week period. Letters and a booking form will be going out in the first week of June.

It is great to see the club is still going strong, and there will be a waiting list on both classes soon. Well done to all the students for working so hard in their lessons. You are all a credit to the club, see you all next month.
