I would like to start this month by saying a big well done to Alex Yilmaz from the infant class, and Ross Katsaros from the junior class on becoming the June students of the month. They have both worked very hard and always put in 100%. They have both put a lot of hard work in to their training. Well done boys keep up the hard work.
This month the infant class have been getting ready for the Potters Bar carnival with loads of amazing breakfalls, grappling moves, throws and much. To read more on this go to the Potters Bar carnival report.
The children have been been learning loads of new moves for their up and coming grading which is next month. The high grades will be learning some locks and hold downs from standing and also kneeling, with the lower belts learning basic hold downs stances and also breakfalls. Amber and I have been none stop with the children getting stuck in with grappling and helping them with their fitness side of things as well. Giving them some fitness homework to practice with mums and dad has gone down well. Weryone’s press ups have come on so much – it is amazing to watch.
The junior class also did really well at the carnival showing off their skills in grappling and locks and cocks – I, and all the mums and dads and I are so proud of them! The class have been working hard on one on one attack from someone trying to punch them or even strangle them, and I can tell the children are enjoying, it. Every time someone blocks the punch or throws their partner you can see the smiles on their faces.
The class has been soaking everything up this month that we had a look back at some basic moves to brush up on them and go over to make sure no one had forgotten some of the basic throws. I am looking forward to seeing the high grades showing off their throwing skills as each week they have been shown a new throw and putting it in to practice in stand up grappling.
The teenager class has been hard at work this month with grading’s – everyone has been pushing 100% out for their belts. I would like to welcome Tommy Niblett, Harry Pavett and Sean Titley who have moved up the the teenagers class from the juniors. Its a big step but I know that the rest of the class will show you the ropes and look after you.
The teenager grading’s have been super we have had the white red belts going to yellow belt and also Michael Katsaros grading from white belt to white red belt. Everyone did an amazing job working hard on their throws and moves it could not have gone better for them. Callan Colgan and Lamia Soyel worked together. Lamia was grading to white red and also yellow. She was super fit she did an outstanding double grading working with Callan – they are both ones to to watch.
