I would like to start this month off by saying a big well done to Thomas Stone from the Infant class on becoming April’s Student of the Month. Thomas has worked so hard and has shown in every lesson how much he loves his Ju Jitsu. He is one of the highest grades in the class and helps the lower grades as much as he can. Keep up the good work Thomas – well done.
In the Junior class I would like to say a big well done to Ross Katsaros. Ross has been working so hard over the last 4 months and very gives and tries his hardest in everything he does. With Ross being the second highest grade in the class he has all the class looking up to him and it is lovely to see.
This month all three classes have been working hard on getting themselves ready for the up and coming British National championships in May, with one thing on everyone’s mind is gold, gold, and more gold. I am so proud of the class they all have put in 100% and I can’t wait for them to show off in the competition.
Some of the moves we have been showing the Infant class have been quick take downs to pinning each other so they can’t move. I have to say that the kids are getting stronger and faster every lesson.
We have also been learning some handy moves to get out of hold downs, so people can not pin you down and you can get them off and get on top. This has been working really well for smaller students that get pulled around a lot.
The Junior class have been learning some fast throws like the dropping body drop so that they throw you down they are already down and on top of you. This has been amazing throw for the kids to use in the competition. From there we have been going for some lovely submissions and the kids have been perfecting their own submissions that they like. Some of the submissions that the class have been perfecting have been the naked chock, arm bars and also leg locks, and I have to say they have been working hard on this watch out everyone Potters Bar are coming home with all the gold this year.
This month everyone has been working hard on grappling we had some time with both classes playing loads of fun grappling games and fitness games and getting me to do loads of press ups as I am not as fast as the little ones.
The Teenager class have been perfecting the art of throwing with loads of basic throws from hip throws to dropping body drop, and everyone has shown some amazing skills. With the competition in 4 weeks time we have been throwing and grappling each other and the students have been working really hard that I have to really true not to tap to many times as the class have been beating me left and right. The class have come on so much and I am really looking forward to this year’s championships.
Just to make everyone aware that the cut-off date for the competition is Saturday 9th May 2015 so get the forms in ASAP!!! Potters Bar are coming back with all the gold.
