I would like to start this terms report of by saying a big well done to Ben on becoming this term’s Student of the Month. He has been working hard in every lesson and has come a long way since he started. I know he has become a very good martial artist and has true Ishin Ryu spirt. He has not missed a single class since he began and always enjoys his lessons and loves grappling. Well done Ben keep up the good work.
I would also like to say a big well done to Milo for becoming the second Student of the Month. Milo has been a brilliant student. Being the highest grade, he helps everyone in the class and the entire dojo looks up to him. Milo has been the longest serving student of the Mill Hill club, being the first member on the first night we started. I have to say Milo is an outstanding student and a lovely kid to teach. Keep up the good work Milo.
This term, the Mill Hill club have been working on a number of different wrist locks and arm locks from standing and also on the ground. This has been really fun for the students and having them try not just on each other but also on me. Even with an adult a child can still break a strong grab no matter how much they try and fight.
The ground work side of things we have been using and practicing the basic arm bar and wrist lock having the students getting in to the lock as quick as they can from different holds and even throws. As soon as their partner is on the floor they have to get in to the lock to get the submission. And I have to say that all the class have become lighting fast at getting the submission. Also keeping on the ground work side of things we have been going over all the basic ground holds as well nothing better than making sure we have a good foundation to win in grappling.
I have to say this term has gone so fast and starting next term we are going to be starting the first grading’s of the year. With that in mind we have been starting work on some throws to take down are partner and go from a lock or a hold. All the students have been working so well on this that this is going to be a brilliant grading. I have to say working hard on all his moves and fitness is James Panic – he has been really good at the ground work side of things and he is very strong. He doesn’t give up and is always willing to get stuck in with anyone and everyone.
The half term holidays are now out of the way and everyone is looking forward to the grading with all the class working so hard. We have been having loads of fun with games and using the moves in them to make it more fun than just doing the same moves over and over.
With the last week before the grading I have to say that all the kids are buzzing about going for their next belt and hoping to pass with flying colours. Being a smaller class all the kids get a one on one with me so the class excel so much more than most classes.
I would like to make everyone aware that on the Sunday 17th May 2015 we have are national grappling competition and I am very excited to get all the kids involved and coming back with gold medals. It would be a fantastic day for all the family. For more information you can go on to the website and click on the competition report for more information. I will also be handing out letters soon with more information in lesson.
I would like to finish off with a big well done to all the students that passed in their grading, you all worked so hard and it showed with some amazing Ju Jitsu. Keep up the good work everyone.
Have a lovely Easter break and I look forward to seeing everyone after the Easter break.
