Firstly I would just like to say congratulations to our Student of the Month. Well done you have earned this award.
The classes at Manor Lodge have been training for their gradings. The Year 1’s, 2’s & 3’s have been focusing on their ground holds and how to move from different positions on the floor and keep your opponent on the held down.
All the classes have been doing really well with this and they have mastered their hold downs. The Year 4’s have been concentrating on throws and locks, meaning that have to throw their partner and take them to the floor and lock them up to get the tap.
Sempai Lou has been awesome teaching the Year 4’s and the group has learned a lot over this half term with her. Lastly the Year 5’s and 6’s have been doing palm heel strikes. This is where they lean 5 different ways to strike someone with the palm of your hand.
They have all picked this up really quickly. I would like to thank Sensei Tom for all this hard work he has put into this class.
The gradings were awesome at Manor Lodge. Every class performed to the best of their ability and they were all determined not to give up. I would like to say well done to everyone who took part in the gradings and to all of those that have moved up to their next grade.
As it is summer time again, it only means one this. Manor Lodge School fete is on and this year Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu has been asked to put on a demonstration. It was a wonderful day I would like to thank Nicky Astell for inviting us to be a part of it. I would like to say well done to all the students that took part in the display. It was a brilliant display and you all did yourself proud.
Lastly, it’s that time of year again where the sun is shining and we have to say goodbye to some of our students. I would like to say well done to all the Year 6’s with your exam results and getting into the secondary schools that you wanted.
It’s an amazing achievement. I would also like to say well done in Ju Jitsu 6 years is a long time to stick at a hobby and you have all been exceptional students to teach. I hope that the future is bright for you all, and that we see you again soon. Good luck and you will be sorely missed.
Next month we are going to be concentrating on shoulder arm locks in preparation for the up and coming gradings. Next thing we know they will be here.
