Sensei Tom with very happy children and their new belts

Sensei Tom with very happy children and their new belts

This term the kids have been working really hard on all parts of Ju Jitsu from rolling around on the floor with basic brake falls to defending them self’s from all sorts of attacks. The year one and year two classes have been working on grappling and locks from the floor using this in grappling has been fun and also getting the kids use to their left and right hands.

The year three and year four classes have been stepping it up and doing defense to kicks to the head when laying on the floor. This is teaching the kids how to protect them self’s if they ever get pushed to the floor or someone ganging up on them and ending up on the floor.
and the year five’s and year sixes have been doing defenses from pushes and punches why being pinned to a wall. The kids have been having loads of fun with this and enjoying the training loads.

As this is the buildup to the last grading’s of the school year everyone has been working hard on their moves for their test at the end of the term. Mixed in with the moves we throw in random questions on the history of Ishin Ryu and also loads of fitness. The classes have been working so hard and I and Lee Swain are very proud of all the kids. We couldn’t ask for better students to teach and they always put 100% into everything they do. I am very honored to have them as my students.

This term I would like to say a big good luck and good bye to the year sixes as they are moving to secondary school in September. It has been amazing to teach you and I hope you can continue your training at one of our clubs outside of the school and good luck with going to secondary school.

Finally, I would like to say to everyone have a lovely summer holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone back in the new school year. I can’t wait to hear all your holiday stories and see what you all got up to.

Congratulations to all the students who were awarded with their new belts. I remember a very long time ago when I did my Adult shodan- ho
    at the school.

  2. Nice report Sensei, keep up the great work!
