Well it’s the end of the school year again, and what a fantastic year it’s been, we have had so much go on.

Year 1 class with their new belts and certificates

The Year 1 class at Manor Lodge performed superbly in their recent grading. They showed excellent knowledge of the ground hold techniques and all completed them accurately. All students were also able to answer some basic knowledge questions about Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu. They all passed and are promising to be excellent martial artists. This was the last grading for the year 1 class the academic year, and I would like to say that they have been a pleasure to teach and I hope to see you all back next year.

The Year 2 class had a wonderful grading. All students were tested both technically and physically. They had several tough fitness tests throughout the grading and despite tiredness were able to demonstrate several S-Parry into various throws (an S-Parry is type of block from a punch coming into your head). All the students passed this grading and showed tremendous spirit and training ethic. Well done to everyone in year two especially Lucas Yates who performed awesomely in his grading and all throughout the term.

The Manor Lodge Year 3 students showed a great knowledge of Ju Jitsu in their recent grading. They were able to do several shoulder arm locks, a test of their technical ability, as well as completing a range of Defences Against Wrist-Grabs, chosen from the Adult Brown-Black syllabus. The pupils all passed, showing an excellent group mentality by encouraging and supporting one another. Coagulations to everyone who took part.

Year 4 at Manor Lodge School had a truly awesome grading, which every student passed. They displayed each technique with confidence, particularly the key areas that were being tested, namely the Defences Against front and back strangles. They also displayed superb fitness levels through several tests of both their stamina and power. These included press ups, sit ups, leg raises and burpees. Well done your 4, this was for sure on off the best gradings I’ve seen you do.

The Year 5 and 6 class of Manor Lodge School impressed their teachers at their most recent grading. They were all able to pass what was a physically and mentally draining test. The students showed a basic knowledge of Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu’s history as well as confidence in several techniques, especially their throws, and ground work. Along with this technical knowledge, these students demonstrated excellent fitness through several rounds of grappling and fitness tests. Again a massive well done to this class, you done yourself proud.

Now it’s that time of year again where we have to say goodbye to the year six’s. Some of you have been doing Ju Jitsu since year 1, which is a very long time! From me and Sempai Tom we wish you all the best in the future and we hope to see you soon.
