November has been a frenetic month for the most northerly Ishin Ryu dojo, in Lionel, with everyone moving up a gear as we combine strikes with takedowns and submissions.
It has been great to see the concentration of the juniors improve, and the adults are feeling the benefits as they begin to shed excess pounds. We have been honoured with coverage by BBC Radio Scotland who ran an excellent article on the dojo and what it means to the local community.
The Student of The Month was a closely fought contest, with all of the students stretching themselves. After “The Beast” – an intense cardio session we run at the end every month – I am pleased to award the coveted title to Duncan Simpson for the Adults, and Ruairidh Mackenzie for the Juniors.
Lastly, the adults are finalising their training for the 6th December, when they will be taking part in The Ness 10k Run. We will be raising much needed funds for Help For Heroes. Please show your support at our Just Giving Page: www.justgiving.com/Ishin-Ryu-Ju-Jitsu
Until next month, domo aragato.
