I would like to welcome William & James Evans, Benedict & Max Measures to Hopton Ju Jitsu club. All four boys are really enjoying classes. Well-done to Alisha Lucraft who has been a fantastic help to young James whilst performing his breakfalls

This month the combined infant and junior class worked on a defence from a kick – the younger infant class performed a basic form of the technique to allow them to grasp it easy; they would finish off with a controlled take down. The junior class would do the same start but finish off with a takedown, ankle lock and nice controlled axe kick.

The children really enjoyed this and were keen to practice this many times. There were some cracking techniques been performed; well-done Finley Holloway and Cameron Bremner for really trying hard.

We have also enjoyed working on defences from leg scissors, first of all I would get the student that was lying on the floor to learn and perform the leg scissors to try and control their partner whilst the person caught between the legs to escape using their elbows to press down on the inside of the crossed legs.

They all quickly learnt that once caught in the right place that it could be quite painful but some students preferred to laugh the pain off – there were also some cool looking faces… they would finish off the technique by getting out of the legs and getting to side control.

At the end of lessons, the students really enjoyed a quick game of “sumo,” two people within a ring – the object of the game was to try push, pull, drag or throw each other outside of the area; winner would stay in. we had a large and small group to make it more interesting – as always we have very competitive students, a great joy to watch…

Next month we will continue where we left off this month, as gradings will not be till December so we still have plenty of time to practice.

Next month we have the children’s gradings and presentations, good luck to you all – you have paced a lot of effort into your training…

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.
