I’ll start the Hopton Ju Jitsu Club October Monthly Report by congratulating Isabelle Bradbury who received student of the month award.
Welcome along to the Hopton Ju Jitsu club, Greta Fogtier, Cameron Bremner, Phoenix Warner and Alicia Lucraft. You have all being getting on really well and giving maximum effort in everything you do. ‘Well done”
During the month of October we lost a couple of lessons due to a teachers training day and autumn half term. The rest of the month we concentrated on techniques and fitness. We practiced two throw techniques “Body drop and “Knee wheel”. I broke these techniques into manageable sizes so they could absorb what we were doing. To help all the new students with these techniques we got them all learning their breakfalls so they knew what to do when they were landing on the floor. They all coped with this really well and where able to practice these techniques. We have a mixed class so Infant and Junior students are mixed together.
During the month we also had team races and build on confidence, speed, agility and fitness. Paired in groups they would run to the opposite end of the matted area and perform anything form a press-up to a tuck jump, run back to their partners, tag the next person and then repeated by that student. We also had some fun with casualty drags, Infants with Infants, Juniors with Juniors. Couldn’t really expect a small Infant to pull a Junior, giving the chance they would give it a go…The idea of this technique was to drag their partners whilst holding onto their uniform when they are sitting upright to the opposite end of the mat and back again before swapping with their partners. “A leg technique for the person pulling” After having one go, they all wanted to repeat that process… It was great fun for them practicing this and a pleasure to watch…
Next month we will be going a stage further to show all the students the possibilities of these techniques.
