Congratulations to Greta Fagher from the Juniors, receiving student of the Month for November/December 2014. Greta has really shown great improvement in the short time that she has been training at Hopton Ju Jitsu club. Well done Greta.
The beginning of the month we unfortunately had to close due to my trip away training in Germany, which meant that I had to travel early Friday morning.
The following week was Hopton’s Family Fun Day event. We invite mums, dads and family members onto the mat to take part in a normal Ju Jitsu lesson. This event has been active across all clubs in order to raise as much money as possible for Ishin Ryu’s charity, “Hounds for Heroes.”
Hounds for Heroes provide specially trained assistance dogs to injured and disabled men and women of both the UK Armed Forces and Emergency Services. Through this provision we aim to provide help and practical support leading to an enhanced quality of life.
The student that raises the most amount of money in each club will be awarded with a prize. We got the family members onto the mat. Senior student (Chloe Holloway) called line-up. Everyone dashed to his or her places along side family members. Warm-up and breakfalls; all parents were keen to perform as much as they possible could. A quick go at relay races to see if the students could beat the adults and a forfeit was giving to the losing team. We had a quick go at some techniques that the children have been practicing. Throwing your dad or cousin always seems great.
We finished our Family Funday by grappling with family members; this is probably the best time of the day for the children, and I would like to thank all family members for participating in this day and for donating to our charity.
Over the next couple of weeks, we continued to work on grading techniques, with grading scheduled for Friday 12th December we must knuckle down and get everything perfect.
Cameron Bremner, Phoenix Warner and Alicia Lucraft have now got their Ju Jitsu uniform and are settling into the class really well. All are very active and keen to learn some Ju Jitsu skills. With only a few weeks away from gradings, everyone’s getting really excited! I look forward to telling you all about it next month when we finish up for Christmas…
