At the beginning of February, I made an award for the student that raised as much money as possible for our chosen charity ‘Scotty’s Little Soldiers’. The event was held back in November when all clubs participated in the Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu Family Fun Day. Parents could participate in their children’s Ju Jitsu classes. This was a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed by all. This award went to Tyler Rose from the infant grades. Tyler and his family worked consistently hard raising as much money as possible, as did most of the other students within the class. Well done to everyone!!
Infant and junior grades within the class worked on various things throughout the month. They practiced rolling over kick pads and building confidence with forward rolls; back break falls sitting on the pads; and front break falls kneeling on the pads. All grades within the class thoroughly enjoyed this.
We also practiced grading techniques ready for the children’s gradings at the end of March. They have been working on the Major Outer Reap, Chest Hold and Reclining Leg also known to the class as “love the leg”.We were also able to incorporate a throw into a ground hold technique.
The class have picked up these techniques really well. With a mixed class of infant and junior students, there is a mixed level of ability, so the Junior’s have stepped up demonstrating to the Infants how it should be done!
Well done everyone, keep up the good work…!
