Congratulations to Jian Khan who has shown great improvement in classes, who never complains and is happy to work with anybody.
During the month of June all effort was concentrated at getting the children prepared for the end of the month gradings. With learning different locks combined with throws it made for some interesting techniques. We have mixed ages at the High Elms Manor class so the younger ones perform the techniques without strikes where the older and more responsible children are able to use strikes in a controlled manner.
Before the end of the month we had a little pre-grading trial, getting all the students to perform their techniques combined with fitness and grappling. (The class often gets split up so everyone gets the opportunity to train with different partners). One side would go first and repeat the technique over and over until I was happy with each student before letting the other side go. The children performed these techniques combined with games, which helps with repetition.
On the 29th June 2015, students of High Elms Manor School undertook their class gradings.
The children arrived to class with time to spare to make sure all had water. We had a couple of boys absent as they had accidents at school and were unable to participate (Hopefully they will be fighting fit next week!) The children started off extremely well, performing their line-up inspection, fitness tests and questions to a great standard.
We swiftly moved into the core of the exam; each student demonstrated his or her techniques coupled with fitness… Grappling both stand-up and kneeling then more techniques…this grading by far was the best that the children had performed, even under the sweaty and humid conditions, they all performed & PASSED “WELL-DONE”…
Nathan Scharsach will hopefully grade in July as he got injured at school the previous week. If we get time the children also have a few games to celebrate the success of passing…! We have class demonstrations for parents, shortly followed by the belt and certificate presentations…
Unfortunately next week will be the last week before High Elms Manor School closes their doors for summer holidays; I would like to wish “Good luck,” to all those that will not be returning to the school after the summer holiday break due to furthering their school education at a new school. This will not be the end of your Ju Jitsu career as you can still train at our Ju Jitsu classes around Hertfordshire, just look at our website for further details.
“Ju Jitsu will still be on over the summer holidays at any of our Leisure Centre classes”
