Happy to be back for the new year

Happy to be back for the new year

I would like to start this terms report off by saying a big well done to Karen Bradley on becoming this terms student of the month. Karen has been working so hard in every lesson and has come a long way since she started. I know she is becoming a very good martial artist and has true Ishin Ryu spirt. She has not missed a lesson and always enjoys her lessons and loves grappling. Well done Karen keep up the good work.

I would like to say welcome back to all the kids and also would like to welcome some new students to the class. It was lovely to be back after our summer holidays and it was amazing to hear all the stories from the kids of what they have been up to. With the kids back on the mat, we have eased them all back nicely with some basic self-defence moves from grabs to the wrists and basic front strangles.

The new students have been really enjoying the start to their Jiu Jitsu and loving all the games. It has been a very quick half term with the lessons flying past, but like they say time fly’s when you are having fun. The class has also been learning some new exercises this term. At the start of every lesson, the kids come in and do a basic fitness test. Last term was press ups, sit ups, leg raises, and burpees. This term we are working more on core body and legs, so the fitness test is 20seconds in the plank, 10 leg raises, 10 squirts and 10 V sit ups. The kids have been amazing and as soon as they start they get straight on with this and it is amazing to see them get better each week and the better they do the more we can do.

To finish off the first part of the term we have been mixing up the moves with games making the kids learn by having fun and it works wonders for the kids they are learning the moves fast but also having fun why doing it.

I hope you have a lovely half term and look forward to seeing you after the break.
