Proud parents with their children and their new belts

I would like to start this term’s report of by saying a big well done to Karen Bradley on becoming student of the month. Karen has been working so hard in every lesson and has come a long way since she started. I know she is becoming a very good martial artist and has true Ishin Ryu spirt. she has not missed a lesson and always enjoys her lessons and loves grappling. Well done Karen keep up the good work.

This term the kids have been working on a number of different wrist locks and arm locks from standing and also on the ground. This has been really fun for the students and having them try not just on each other but also on me, even with an adult a child can still break a strong grab from an adult no matter how much they try and fight.

On the ground work,  we have been using and practicing the basic arm bar and wrist lock having the students getting in to the lock as quick as they can from different holds and even throws. As soon as their partner is on the floor they have to get in to the lock to get the submission. And I have to say that all the class have become lighting fast at getting the submission. Also keeping on the ground work side of things we have been going over all the basic ground holds as well nothing better than making sure we have a good foundation to win in grappling.

The kids have been amazing this year and it has been a joy to teach them all. It is amazing to see them progress and the grading the kids done was outstanding, with rounds of grappling and fitness the kids did not show signs of stopping or slowing down. With the end of the grading coming up I sat the kids down and asked them questions on the history of the Ishin Ryu and with every question hands shot up like little pocket rockets.

With the presentation of new belts, the last training lesson of the year the kids had a fun lesson with loads of games and having the mums and dads watching them get their new belts all in all an amazing end to a brilliant year.

I hope everyone has a lovely summer holiday and if you are going away have fun be safe and I look forward to seeing you all in the new school year.
