Our new dojo for the month!

Our new dojo for the month!

This Month we have been up rooted from our normal room to downstairs as they are laying a new floor. I can’t wait to see what our new dojo is going to look like! I would just like to say thank you to everyone in the class for giving me such a warm welcome, it has been great teaching you so far.

This month we have been training on our throws and hold downs. We started off by learning the major outer reap, which is a very basic throw to learn to start off with. By the end of our first lesson everyone had mastered the throw! We then started to learn scarf hold which again is a basic hold to learn but also a very good technique to know. Once we practiced all of this the infants were ready to start grappling.

The juniors have been working on ground hold preparing themselves for the fast approaching grappling competition with the practice they have been getting in I’m pretty sure Harrow Ju Jitsu club will be taking home some medals! We have also been using nunchucks as we have not had the space to throw each other around this month the class has been improving the co-ordination skills by learnignthe nunchuck kata. Well done everyone you have all been working hard.

Next month we will be going over some old syllabus just so we don’t get rusty on previous work. This is so we can keep techniques we haven’t done for a while fresh in the mind. We will also be back upstairs in our normal room which I can’t wait for!

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.

Many thanks,
Jack O’Brien Sempai
