It’s been a great year for the Finborough club in so many ways. The dojo moved into its new location of a 2 .5 million sports centre in the grounds of the school, and due to the growing success of the club the headmaster has brought new mats, which are the newest design and 40mm thickness. The area of the dojo is much bigger at 8m by 12m, so the students have plenty of room to train.
It is so great not having to worry if the students are going to fall off the training area or get injured as the mats before were only 20mm and not good for our kind of training. The students are so happy with the new mats and bigger training area. It is amazing that it is even giving them a lot more confidence to be thrown. They are so confident they are even doing flips onto their backs without any worries. It makes the dojo look so much more professional, and is so much easier to put down every week.
All the students did a brilliant grading. The infants had to demonstrate quick take down into ground holds. They also did throws with take down and hold. Two students that really stood out were Sadie & Amelia, who always work hard and are so happy when they turn up for training. There are so many great students at the Finborough club. Even though it is a long journey to and back home from the club, the students give me so much satisfaction that it is worth it.
The club will be doing a demonstration at their end of term farewell fete, before they break up for their long summer holidays. It is always a fantastic day when all the parents and staff get together to enjoy all the fun & games, plus plenty of great food. I will be doing a report about it next month. I have a great surprise for all the students, which I hope they will really love.
Congratulations to Olly & William who have been training with me since the club first started four years ago. Olly and William are brilliant students in every way; they are very respectful and work hard during their lessons. They both did an awesome teenager grading to yellow belt, I was proud of them.
What is really amazing is that many students have trained alongside them over the years, but sadly many have left the school or stopped. Olly & William have kept on going, and have shown true commitment to the club and their training. I really hope that they will be with me for many years to come, as it is a pleasure to teach them both.
A massive well done is due to everyone that took part in the grading – you were all awesome. Have a fantastic summer break, and I will see you all in September.
Just one final thing to let everyone know, this year’s SUMMER CAMP is from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August. There is a limited amount of spaces in both the infant and junior camp. The cut-off date is Saturday 7th July, due to medals and trophies that have to be ordered for the camp.
This is a great chance for your child to have lots of fun and Ju Jitsu Training for 5 hours a day over a week period. Letters and a booking form will be going out in the first week of June.
