New Sports Centre

New Sports Centre

The new 2.5 million sports centre in the grounds of the school is nearly completed, with only the upstairs studios and reception areas to be finished. Soon the student will have 90 new 40mm mats to train on, which I know they are very excited about.

Now that we are in the main sports hall they have a lot more room to train in, and it gives me the opportunity to work them a lot harder in their fitness tests. In saying that last week I gave them a bleep test and they loved it. When they had finished they wanted to do more.

I can’t wait for the new mats to arrive as the class is full, so there is not a lot of room to spare on the mats at the moment. With only a little time to go for their first grading for this year they have all been working hard on the techniques for the grading.

With six new infants taking their first belt, it will be a very nervous time for many of them. It is great to watch students that when they first started they were so shy and now they have so much confidence. An example is Amalie Long sister of Grace Long that I have been teaching since I first started at the school four years ago. Amalie was so shy and cried like her sister for the first couple of weeks, but now she is so different in every way. It is always amazing and a truly inspirational feeling to see a student grow with so much confidence and the way that so many are so helpful to all the fellow studnets.

The juniors have always been a brilliant group to teach, especially grace & Heidi that have been training since the first lesson back in 2010. They are always so happy when they come to the lesson and could put a smile on anyone’s faces. They always work hard and never complain or say “what if” when I am showing a new technique like the boys always do. They have only got a few weeks left before their last grading before they break up for Easter. So it has been heads down and plenty of hard work to make sure the pass their grading’s with flying colours. Good luck to all the students that will be attempting their first ever grading or the next level.

    Osu Sensei,

Good to see your classes doing so well, and what a fantastic new sports center. You are very lucky indeed.
