It has been a steady month for all the students at the Dereham club. Welcome to two new students in the infant class, this gives the others students new members to work with. The sign at Tesco’s is still looking brilliant and looks like it was only put up yesterday.
Congratulations to Benjamin for all his tremendous hard work on receiving Student of the Month. Benjamin is always a very happy student and learns his techniques very quickly. It also helps that the class is small so they are getting to learn new techniques quickly. It is great that we have had two new students join the class so they can start to do more team events within their training. They both love doing groundwork and lots of fitness drills.
They are all ready for their next grading at the start of July, which is always a great time to reward the students for all their hard work over the last four months. They have been working hard on their take down techniques for their grading. And developing their skills on transferring from one technique to another they have been doing drills in zay zar involving all their groundwork techniques. It is amazing to see how fast they get and muscle memory kicks in.
Congratulations to Dominic on receiving Student of the Month for all his brilliant work. Dominic has been a very committed student for many years now. He is very liked within the class, and will help any student with their training.
The juniors had their first taste of doing finger locks which they all loved – well the student doing the technique did. It was quite funny to see the strange faces the students made when they were being taken up from the floor by just one of their fingers. Welcome to Gabriel to the junior class, he had a great first lesson and was amazed at what he could do in Ju Jitsu.
One student that has stood out for me this month is Luke. Luke has been with me for so many years and always works hard in the lessons. He is a natural to Ju Jitsu and never has to try that hard to get things right. It will be great to get the grading over and done with so I can start to teach them new techniques that I have used over the last 19 years.
The teenager class & adult class have had some very busy sessions lately. On some nights it has been a full house so we have been able to have some great training. Nice to see Andy returning to training and new member David is working really hard. He had the experience of being my uke on a night that we did a bit of gun disarm techniques. He did really well for his first time, but was totally shocked how painful it was being a uke.
Congratulations to Daniel & Dominic who both got a progress medal for achieving a full line on their cards. This is a fantastic way of parents keeping an eye on how their child is progressing in their training. It also gives the students something to work towards, and a big sense of achievement that they can be proud of. There is only one down side to the card, which is if the student misbehaves in the lesson they don’t get a star.
Just one final thing to let everyone know, this year’s SUMMER CAMP is from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August. There is a limited amount of spaces in both the infant and junior camp. The cut-off date is Saturday 7th July, due to medals and trophies that have to be ordered for the camp.
This is a great chance for your child to have lots of fun and Ju Jitsu Training for 5 hours a day over a week period. Letters and a booking form will be going out in the first week of June.
Good luck to all the students that will be competing at this year’s British Championship. Let’s see if you can bring home some medals for your club.
