Yet again August has been a busy month for all my students. The summer camp was one of the best ever since I started them many years ago. I have already got parents enrolling their children already for 2016.
Next year’s summer camp will be from MONDAY 8TH AUGUST TO FRIDAY 12TH AUGUST
As you can see by the photo they did some amazing things during the week long course. Many of the students have been away on their summer holidays, so the numbers in each class have been low.
As you will see that I have updated the information board with new photos of you guys training in the lessons. There are also some photos from this year’s summer camp, in case you wish to enrol next year.
It was a great month of training for Ewan Webster, who was awarded student of the month. Ewan is always a very keen and excited student during the lesson. I love the fact it doesn’t matter whatever he is asked to do, he just smiles and gets on with it. As you can see Ewan is not wearing a uniform as we are waiting for the new design gi’s to arrive. It is going to be a major step forward for Ishin Ryu, which I am really looking forward to.
Like his brother Corin has had a brilliant month, so it was a pleasure to award him with student of the month. Corin is much quieter than his brother, but always gives it 100%, and always listens to what he is being asked to do. Again as you can see he is waiting for the new gi’s to arrive.
As the infant class is small, they are able to learn so much in their lessons. And they also learn the techniques better as they have more time to practise them. Like all of my other clubs they have been learning rear strangle techniques and the body drop. They all loved the rear strangle, it is always greats seeing their minds working at full speed to escape form the hold and grab hold of their partner as quickly as they can. It is always very hard to write about what the students have been doing especially when it is a small class.
With the grading’s out of the way, it was back to normal training, and the start for them to learn new techniques for the last grading of the year. I really like the size of the class as it is not too small or too big. I have some great students in the class like Dominic and Daniel who have been training with me for so many years. Daniel has got one more belt to go before he wants to move up into the teenager class. It will be great to see yet another junior move up to start his next journey with Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu.
The juniors have started working on a new throw the body drop which they have loved doing. For their next grading they will have to demonstrate counters to the body drop, which is great for them to learn the skills of reacting quickly when they are attacked. I love showing these as I did them back in November 2000 for my black belt grading. I was the first ever student to attempt the black belt grading all those years ago. Of course they have been doing lots of cardio training and fun during the lessons so they don’t complain that it is too hard, which always surprises me, as they have so much energy when it comes to doing fun and games!
I would like to take this opportunity to say a few things that might help all my students with their training.
ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOURSELF; NEVER SAY I CAN’T DO THAT?
EVERYONE CAN ACHIEVE IN WHATEVER THEY WANT TO DO OR BECOME.
THE ONLY THING THAT STOPS YOU FROM ACHIEVING IS YOURSELF.
THE SMALLEST ACHIEVEMENT IS A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT.
THE MORE YOU TRAIN THE MORE YOU WILL SUCCEED.
PLAYING ON THE XBOX STAYING AT HOME WILL NOT HELP YOU DEVELOP YOUR SKILLS IN WHATEVER ACTIVITY YOU DO.
TEN YEARS AGO I BROKE MY NECK IN A CAR CRASH AND WAS TOLD I WOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO DO MARTIAL ARTS AGAIN.
DID I GIVE IN; YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT CAN MAKE YOURSELF A SUCCESS.
Well done to everyone for all their hard work last month. I would like to wish any of my students that are moving up to high school in September all the best. It will be a very exciting time for you all. As you will always hear from me and your parents, school is the best time in your life so enjoy every minute of it.
One final reminder to all my students, please can you visit our website as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead.
You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me a friend request so if I need to pass on some information quickly I can contact you , and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
