Congratulations to all the students that took part in this year’s championship, it was the best result for the club. The following students did exceptionally well in their weight divisions.
BOGDAN NEDKOV – BRITISH CHAMPION UNDER 46KG
SAM TYLER – SILVER MEDALIST UNDER 46KG
JAMES ROBERTS – BRONZE MEDALIST UNDER 51KG
Congratulations to Milo Milton who is awarded Student of the Month for May. Milo is a great student and always works hard and enjoys the lesson so much. Well done to Theo & benjamin who took part in their first championship and did really well with Theo just missing out on a bronze medal.
Ella Moore has been brilliant since she returned to training. As the only girl in the class, she really gives the boys a good fight and it doesn’t worry her that she is the only girl. I wish many boys could have the same attitude as she has got.
The infants, like all then other clubs, are getting ready for their grading’s in July. As they don’t miss any lessons they are well on the way to be ready for their grading’s in July. As they have been doing a lot of techniques for the championship the grading will be on the lines of the technique’s and throws they used at the event. The fitness level of the infants is also very good.
The junior’s class has also been working really hard on their techniques and throws for the grading which is just round the corner. One student that I would like to mention this month is Jake Vincent who moved from our Honbu dojo to the Dereham dojo. He has really settled in as one of the crew, as the students like to call themselves. It feels like he has always been with the club, which just shows how welcoming the students are to new members joining. Congratulations to Harvey Ellis who received a medal for his progress card. It is always great to award a student for their hard work, and it does give them a big lift.
The teenagers did really well at the championships with Bogdan becoming British champion for the second year. They are all getting ready to grade for their next adult belt, which is getting harder for them as they start to reach the higher grades.
David Walden is really starting to relax, and progressing well with his white belt. We have had two new adults have a go, so hopefully they will return to join up. When all the teenagers and adults are there it is a really busy class and it helps lift the atmosphere when there are more students to teach.
It would be great to see the other classes start to grow in the future. I have plans of putting up more signs in Dereham so the public are more aware that there is a \Ju Jitsu club in the area.
Just one final thing to let everyone know, this year’s SUMMER CAMP is from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August. There is a limited amount of spaces in both the infant and junior camp. The cut-off date is Saturday 7th July, due to medals and trophies that have to be ordered for the camp.
This is a great chance for your child to have lots of fun and Ju Jitsu Training for 5 hours a day over a week period. Letters and a booking form will be going out in the first week of June.
Good luck to all the students that will be competing at this year’s British Championship. Let’s see if you can bring home some medals for your club.
