This month has seen Honbu host the children’s gradings. As usual the children have met the challenge head on and its been a month of successes.
The children are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of breakfalls, throws, locks and chokes and grappling. They also participate in basic exercise such as press ups, sit ups , leg raises and burpees. The expectation is different for each child but they are all expected to give 100% and it always an absolute pleasure to see so many keen and enthusiastic faces. Congratulations to all those who passed.
The gradings were, as always, followed by a week of games fun as a way of reward for all the hard work and commitment these children have shown.
Also welcome back Lily May who broke her foot away from the dojo and hasn’t been able to train for a few weeks. Luckily we managed to get her through her grading so she could keep in line with her peers – well done Lily.
We have also had a few move arounds with Ben Whatkinson moving up to Juniors and a couple of the juniors getting ready to move up to the teenagers after Christmas.
Welcome also to Joss and Alex who have recently joined the teenager class, both of whom tower over me. They won’t be staying long though as we hoping to move them up to adults by spring next year to ready them for an adult grading.
Also we have seen the introduction of some of the new black childrens dogis. They look uber smart and the kids loved them (I suspect there are a few mums out there too, who will be glad to see the back of white gi’s!!) there is only limited stock at the moment but there will be more available after Christmas.
In a couple of weeks we will see the teenagers taking their gradings, along with Sensei Del’s students from Thetford and Wymondham. Good luck to all those participating.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…
