Summer’s here… or maybe not. Never mind the weather, we are still training here at Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu.
This month we have witnessed some excellent techniques and (more importantly) a hefty amount of grit and determination, with the teenagers grading day – see my separate report for details.
June’s Student of the Month was awarded to Edward Herd from the Wednesday Infant class. Edward is a pleasure to teach, he is a real try-er and always gives max effort. Recently his younger sister came in the dojo and Edward was there to give her a helping hand and a bit of big brotherly support. Well done Edward, a well-deserved award.
As usual there has been a plethora of progress awards, the children love working towards these awards and counting their weekly stamps has become part of the routine to see how close they are to the next medal – well done to all of you who have received awards so far, and keep up the good work!
We have continued working toward the next set of children’s gradings with a healthy amount of basic exercises and techniques. By the time this goes to press the gradings will be all over and the children will be preparing for the next Ishin Ryu challenge.
And finally, just to give you something to smile about, here’s a picture of Sensei Andy Herbert with a Tarantula on his head. Don’t be deceived by that smile- he was a little bit scared! So next time he is in front of you for a grapple- bring your biggest spider!
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.
