Teenagers “get ready”

Teenagers “get ready”

Welcome back to Ishin Ryu, we hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas break and wonderful New Year. It’s been a busy first month back for Honbu dojo. Let’s hope there’s a lot of New Year resolutions, (to get back into the Dojo and train as hard as possible.) It certainly seems that way for the U16’s.

Everyone has had a brilliant start to another year of Ishin Ryu. And now with January rushing by lets conclude it by drawing on the things we have done in this first month back. Everyone has worked as hard as they can and it definitely shows. A big welcome to Honbus newest student’s llias and Isaac who have started with true Ishin Ryu style by jumping straight into training.

All of Honbu’s students new and old have not gotten too lazy over the Christmas season, all have been working hard and it looks like another great year ahead for the clubs Students and Yudansha (The Sensei’s). Another mention is the upcoming March grading’s on Wednesday 9th and Friday 10th (just over a month away.) so all the Infants and juniors will be training hard- plenty of fitness, discipline and even more techniques to pick up.

Not to forget all the teenagers. With a whole syllabus to learn perfectly by the summer they’ll be working hard every week, although, it leaves plenty of time to give them lots of fitness and discipline ready for the gradings.

We would also like to congratulate Trevor Steward Sensei on receiving his Godan (5th Dan) Andy Herbert Sensei on receiving his Yondan (4th Dan) and Del Shannon Sensei on receiving his Sandan (3rd Dan) All on Saturday 9th January. – Ishin Ryu’s 26th Anniversary! and coincidentally it fell exactly on the 26th year since we began on 9th January 1990. So we all trooped down to Borehamwood (Ishin Ryu’s birthplace) for anniversary celebrations… in the form of a big party.

We now hope it will be a prosperous year once again for the club as we are now back into the traditional Ishin Ryu style of fitness, training and lots more of the aforementioned. We hope to welcome many more new students this year, as we have done with the adult classes. An old student has made a promising return- Welcome back Solomon Patience! Let’s hope February will be a prosperous.

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.

Many thanks,

Sheila Eglen Sensei
