Katy King Patiently working that arm bar

Katy King Patiently working that arm bar

The month has flown by. All the kids are back at school and the classes have settled down to normal. Along with Bethany, Jessica and Emily who have all joined after seeing us at the Wayland show, we also welcome Carter to the Friday junior class.

Also, since the end of the summer holidays, a few of the infants have moved up to join older siblings and Persephone has made the brave step up to the teenage class – well done all of you.

This month has also seen a gruelling Senior Grade Training day, with a great turn out. As usual, fabulous to see all the guys, both local and up from London, for a technical catch up.                     After a quick kit inspection “errr, where’s my first aid kit” followed by weapon check “errrrrrrr, where’s all my weapons!!” we were straight into some heavy training.  A speedy warm up was followed by some basic throws, mixing up the belts to really keep us on our toes. This is great practice for everyone, especially Sempai’s Lou and Richard – who have both submitted their applications to attempt their Shodan grading sometime next year.

Senior Grade Training days are vitally important for everyone’s progress, not only for Black Belts, but also for those still hoping to grade, as attendance is obligatory for future progress through the grades.

For the first time ever the Shodans actually out-numbered the senior grades on the matt, with seven (including the big fella) to five. We were only missing the effervescent Sensei Andy T who was off to sunnier climes!

Another great month as we steam head toward Christmas.
