June has been yet another exciting month for Ishin Ryu students. his time it has been the turn of the teenagers who graded this month at the Ishin Ryu headquarters in Caston. On the 13th of June (no bad luck here) the day started nice and early with all the children arriving at Caston for an 0900 start. After a thorough kit inspection they were all invited to take part in the infamous Ishin Ryu bare foot run.
Yes it was wet, yes it was raining hard, and did they care? NOOOO. Off they ran in the rain at the command of Hayden South who is the most senior of the group. After a soggy run without their shoes they all prepared themselves for the day and we kicked off with the red belts.
They were brilliant, and so were the yellow belts. The Blue belts did great and finally (after a 6 mile run) so was Hayden who was going for his Brown Black belt. Remember, these guys are “only” children, but they follow the adult syllabus and 6 miles before a grading is the expectation for Brown/Black and he lived up to all expectations.
Congratulations to all those who participated, and passed. You all really deserved your new belts.
Students of the month for June was a funny one, As I handed Jack Chapman his Student of the month certificate and belt, in the infant class, he finally made the decision to make the move up to juniors, so well done Jack Chapman, you were Student of the Month for infants and juniors this month!
June has also seen the end of an era; George and Charlie Phillips have left the club after both training for a few years now. Busy lives have dictated they take time out, which is a shame as they will both be sorely missed. They have both made some fabulous friends and will be missed for the colourful characters that they are – we wish them both well in the future.
Lots of progress awards this month, with the following receiving a lovely Ishin Ryu medal:-
Drew Lawrence, Jasmine Herbert, Artimes Bruce, Ruairi Bruce and Max Margrie- well done to you all for your dedication and hard work to achieve your goals.
