Grace Munday taking control

Grace Munday taking control

To start this month’s report I would first like to give a big “Thank You” to Sempai Tom Garvin who stepped in and took all the classes at Honbu for two weeks whilst I recovered from knee surgery. I’m sure the kids loved having a new instructor for that fortnight, so thanks from all of us. Although still a bit fragile I am back in the dojo – although kneeling may be off the cards for a few weeks yet! Luckily for me, Sempai Lou is usually there to be my body double and do the stuff on the floor – thanks to Sempai Lou too.

Student of the month Infant Class Jonas Heritage

In the Infant class, Student of the Month for April were awarded to Jonas Heritage, Jonas has been training for a year now and is a wonderful addition to the class. Always polite and keen to improve, Jonas is an asset to Honbu and a pleasure to teach.

The junior Student of the month was awarded to Liam Munday (sorry Liam, your photograph has gone missing- I will take a new one and post it ASAP) Liam has been training since forever. He has moved up to the junior class recently and settled in a treat. Liam always gives 100% and is an easy student to teach as he picks up techniques really well.

Well done both of you – well deserved awards

Well done also this month to Liam’s dad – Joel Munday- an ex student of Ishin Ryu who ran the London Marathon in aid of NDCS. Joel was motivated to get into his shorts for his daughter – a student in the teenagers class (see picture 1!!) who never once complains and is a dedicated martial artist in the making – a big well done to the Munday family.

It looks like May is going to be just as busy as ever for Ishin Ryu Ju Jitsu. Most importantly for the children, the British Championships are being held on the 17th of May. Good luck to all of you that are taking part, it’s going to be a great day.
