Jonas practicing weapons

The summer holidays are over and all the little ones have returned to schooling. Hopefully now all the classes will settle back down as all those on holidays have finally returned.

A new term has seen a bit of a move around with a number of infants moving up into the junior classes, I hope you enjoy your new challenges.

Also the return of a few old faces, firstly a welcome back (if only for a month) to Ben Beeston. It’s always a delight to get Ben back in the dojo, he always seems to maintain his fitness and is always prepared to jump straight back in at the deep end. Shame you can’t stay for longer Ben.

Another familiar face is that of Kevin Marsh. Kevin hasn’t trained with Ishin Ryu since 2010 when work took him in another direction. Welcome back Kevin you may have a few tough weeks ahead of you but I promise it will get easier.

Leapfrog fun

Along with Kevin are his sons Eden and Lewis who both took the summer off, I asked Lewis to write a few words about his return: he said

I haven’t been to Ju Jitsu for about two months, but I knew I should have been going every week because when I came back I couldn’t keep up with the others which meant more burpees or press ups! I am really committed to this club. I go with my brother Eden and my dad (Kevin) and we all really enjoy it. I know all the people here and everybody loves it. I’m glad I went back”

Lewis Marsh aged 13.

Yet another random visitor was Tariq Pell (Soke’s nephew) Tariq was a student at Ishin Ryu a number of years ago and has branched off to study other arts, it was a pleasure to have him back in the Dojo – a little bit taller than I recall- hope to see you again soon Tariq.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sensei Tom Garvin and Sensei Del Shannon for covering my classes whilst jetted off to sunnier climes, as usual my kids loved your classes (obviously not as much as they love mine I hasten to add!!)

If you are interested and curious to what Ishin Ryu Jiu Jitsu is all about, please do hesitate to visit our website below, alternatively you can ring our headquarters on 01953 483795 where you can speak directly to our chief instructor Kevin Pell Sensei.

Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.

Please also have a look at the calendar to see upcoming events so you can plan ahead… You can also now leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.

If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!

If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away…

Many thanks,
Sheila Eglen  Sensei & Kevin Pell Sensei
