I would like to say a big well done to Jaiden Joshi from the infant class on August’s student of the month. Jaiden has not missed a lesson and he has been working so very hard well done Scottie keep it up. Also I would like to say a big well done to Maya Patel on becoming the junior class’s student of the month she has not missed a lesson is always willing to learn and help over students out all the time well done and keep up the good work.
This month has been an action packed month. Even with the summer holidays the students have been working super hard and it shows in their training. With the classes smaller we can focus a lot more on the basic moves and perfecting them. With the infant class we have been going over a lot of moving around on the ground, pulling and pushing are partner getting them on the floor and holding them down.
All the students are really enjoying this and getting to work with each over makes it so much fun, I know everyone likes to grappling with Charlie Bignell – he is really good at holding people down and moving around on the ground.
With all the students really enjoying the grappling we put the techniques in to some games – we played super sumo, stuck in the mud and also bull dog. All the games had grappling involved trying to hold their partner down pull them to the floor or even just going over some of the hold downs they have learned.
The junior class has been working a lot more on self-defence and throwing this month with the class really getting stuck in, with loads of different attacks from a grab from behind, in front and even from a strangle. This is more advanced work for the students but this class works hard and can be pushed a lot more and have loads of fun. Loan Henry and Janarth Premabala getting stuck in to the front strangles and showing some fast defences and amazing strike.
With all the hard work the students have been putting in we put all their work in to action with games with some stand up bull dog and super sumo all the kids found out how easy it is to take someone down when they are moving to you and grabbing you.
To finish all the month we done a lot of fitness and different exercise working on different parts on the body mainly legs and arms, and to do this we played a game I use to love this as a kid, it was called “tug of war” this uses your legs and arms to pull your partner away from their finish line.
Please remember to bring in your progress cards to your lesson each week if you have lost your card it will be £1.00 for a new one. If you forget to bring it to lesson you cannot get stamps back dated.
Next month the class are going to be working on more stand up grappling with throws and hold downs once they have taken the to the floor.
