I would like to start this month’s report by saying happy New Year everyone and welcome back.
I would like to say a big well done to Olivier Elliott for becoming this month’s student of the month for the infant class, and I would also like to say a big well done to Arton Nazarkov from the junior class on becoming this month’s student of the month. Both students work really well and I am very proud of them. Keep up the good work!
With Christmas behind us and the New Year in full swing, everyone has been really happy to be back on the mat. Both infant and junior classes have been going over all the basics to get everyone back in to training. With loads of breakfalls and basic throws everyone soon got back in to training and hitting the mat.
The infant class have been working on some self-defence moves from different grabs, picking up from where we left off last year. The students have been escaping from wrist grabs and front strangles. Keeping the lessons fun and exciting we have been putting all the moves we have been learning in to games and the kids love playing and learning at the same time.
One big part of training this month has also been practising their fitness with the help from mums and dads at home we have been working hard to improve the children’s press ups, sit ups and leg rises. The children have been working so hard on this and the press ups are looking amazing.
This month the junior class have been training none stop on their grappling skills and take downs putting it all in to practice not just from a competition start but also if someone was to try and punch or kick them. We have been teaching the junior students some new throws. Janarth Premabala and Ethan Esteban have been showing real skill in their grappling trying different locks and chocks in grappling.
With learning now holds and locks not just from the floor but from standing we have also been going over some old basic hold downs making sure that the juniors remember the basics. The basics to any move is the foundation to making the student better at a move and helps them with harder locks and throws. Ioan Henry has been amazing at remembering all the basics socking everything up and also helping some of the lower belts as well.
To all the students keep up the good work everyone has made a good start to the year and I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us.
