I would like to start this month off by saying a big well done to our first student of the months for 2016. In the infant class we have Amaya Patel; she has been working really hard and is a lovely student to teach. Amaya tries her best and isn’t shy to try new things. In the junior classes we have Eden Kirwan and Oliver Goodkind. Both have been working really hard and haven’t missed a lesson since the Christmas holiday.
Eden has been working well with the lower grades and helping out new students that start in her class. Oliver also helps members in the class that find things hard to do when he knows how to do a move and has helped Sensei Del and myself a number of times.
Well done to our first student of the months for 2016 me and Sensei Del are always on the lookout so it could be you next month!
I would like to welcome you all back, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year. Me and Sensei Del started this month off with a nice ease back in to training with fitness and grappling with the children working on their basic breakfalls and also how to move on the ground when you are grappling.
With the infants and the junior classes we have been working on making space on the floor and being able to get our partners off us when grappling. This has been fun for the children making the exercise in to games and then putting them in to practice with grappling.
Giving the children goals and targets to work for, we give all the children progress cards and for all the hard work and dedication to their training we reward them with a limited addiction Ishin Ryu medal. I would like to say a big well done to Emilia Nash and Alec Apikian, for completing a line in their progress books for grappling and ground work they both have been working really hard and could see them working towards that medal. Well done you two keep up the good work.
The key topic this month for the kids was fitness and grappling month with everyone learning basic fitness exercise and some ground holds and escapes from them holds. Myself and Sensei Del have seen a massive improvement in the children’s grappling already and it will only get better.
Also this month we have had some new students join the classes I would like to welcome to the Ishin Ryu family from the infant class Francesco Realmuto, Freya Major and Benjamin Morris it is amazing to have you in our class and you are a joy to teach. Also in the junior class I would like to welcome Angelica Ashendoff she has loved her Ju Jitsu and always has a smile on her face well done Angelica.
Finally I would like to welcome to the adult class Sarah Bahovs and Tom Parnell they both have been working with Sensei Del on some basic self-defence, chocks and ground holds and they are very fast learners. It is an honour to teach you all and I look forward to an amazing 2016 with everyone.
To finish off this amazing month I would like to congratulate Gabriel Van Wyk on his six year commitment to training award. Gabriel has been training with Ishin Ryu since 2009 and has worked his way up the ranks to blue belt in the teenager class. It has been amazing to see him grow up and an honour to teach him. I look forward to the next six years teaching him and see him in the adult class very soon.
