I would like to say a big well done to our three students of the month. Freya Major in the infant class. She has been a lovely young lady to teach, always try’s her best and is willing to help others in the class. In the first junior class Ioan Henry is our student of the month. Ioan has been a fantastic student always gets on with his work and trains hard every lesson.
I couldn’t ask for a better student in the class, and finally in our second junior class I would like to say a big well done to Tye Simpson, Tye is a very good martial artist and I have had the honour of teaching him for a long time from the infant class in Borehamwood. He hasn’t changed one bit apart from almost being taller than me.
I would like to say a big well done to all our student of the months, and I look forward to seeing who will be next months. Fingers crossed it’s you.
This month all the four classes have been training really hard and getting ready for their grading’s at the beginning of July. With the infant class and junior class working on throws and hold downs this has been really fun for the kids.In the infant class we have been teaching the kids a body drop from someone holding their shoulders. The kids have been working hard with putting their hands in the right place and gripping the right arm.
Me and sensei Del have seen some outstanding throws and some prefect breakfalls from the kids. Once we got the throw down we moved on from there to a hold down, so once they throw their partner to the floor their put a shoulder hold or a scarf hold on them to finish. The class love throwing each other around and what better way to make the kids have fun by putting this in to rounds of stuck in the mud. With kids running around and being thrown about it is amazing to watch the skill and control of all the kids.
In the junior class we have been doing the same as the infant class but instead of holding the shoulders we have been learning a cross block from a round house punch. This is teaching the kids how to block a punch but also hand eye coordination very good skills to have and training the kids so they get better at it.
With the throws and blocks being a big part of their grading we have put a different finish on the throw different locks and a chock to finish. And the classes have done us proud with prefect throws and beautiful locks it’s like a cherry on top of the cake.
At the end of each lesson both infant and junior classes finish with rounds of grappling and fitness to test their fighting spirt and to make the students stronger when they grapple and move around.By the end of each lesson all the kids are red in the face and ready for bed the parents love us by the end of the night. With not long to go before grading’s the Teenager class have been working on their grading. Unlike the infant and junior class the older class learn adult syllabus having a folder with all the moves that they need to know for their test. We have had loads of our junior students move up to this class so we have a lot of white belts going to white red. With the students learning the basics the class has come a long way and everyone is training really hard. Me and Sensei Del are looking forward to seeing the students do their first teenager grading as it is a lot different to a junior grading.
Please remember that the grading for the kids will be on Monday 4th July 2016. All admin has to be handed in before then so we know if your child will be grading.
Next month is the children’s grading. Please make sure you bring loads of water and true Ishin Ryu fighting spirit. I don’t need to wish you luck as you all have been working hard and your training is all you need.
Please visit our website www.ishinryu.com as much as possible as I submit reports every month about the students training during the previous month. This is a great opportunity to see if you have been mentioned or appear in a photo.
We also have the new calendar page where you can have a look at upcoming events so you can plan ahead. You can also leave feedback on each of the reports or comment on your son/daughters club and share them to your Facebook pages.
If you have any questions or you are unsure of anything, please catch me at the club where I will be happy to help!
If you are on Facebook, please can you send me and Kevin Pell a friend request so if we need to pass on information quickly I can contact you, and when the reports go up I can share it to your Facebook page so you get it straight away.
